Europa-Park’s “Ghost Castle” Returns as “Castello dei Medici”

As of today, the ghost castle is back under its new name of “Castello dei Medici” with new theming. Scenes from the attraction in the Italian themed area have been reinterpreted and existing animatronics have been revised. In addition, the character “Lorenzo” has moved in, whose story is based on the historical figure of the early Italian Renaissance “Lorenzo de’ Medici”, who is now ready to provide plenty of scares in the castle.
“It tells the story of Lorenzo’s rise to power, which is abruptly halted by the treacherous Pazzi family. Lorenzo seeks revenge and comes into possession of an ancient stone tablet with strange symbols and meaningful writings. The text, written in an unknown language, promises immortality to anyone who follows its instructions. Lorenzo organizes his entire everyday life around following this plan. What he experiences and whether he will manage to escape death in the end is revealed to the guests during the four-minute tour in the dark ride,” Europa-Park arouses curiosity about the revamped attraction.
MACK Solutions is responsible for the new storytelling, which is underlined by various effects, projections and illustrations. The ride system was revised and updated by Mack Rides. Guests from a height of 130 cm are allowed to ride in the two-person gondolas. Children under the age of eight may use the indoor attraction if accompanied by an adult. ■
