Faarup Sommerland Turns 50! New Entrance Building & Ice Cream Factory
(eap) The Danish Fårup Sommerland (also: Faarup Sommerland) has started its 50th anniversary season. Just in time for the reopening to visitors, the revamped entrance area has been completed and now features new shops and a new café, among other things.
Construction work began in autumn last year to replace several outdated facilities with new buildings covering more than 2,000 square metres. This enlarged the entrance area of the park, so that a new toilet building and facilities for seasonal employees are now integrated alongside shops and catering outlets. Faarup has also completed its “Brogaardens Is” ice cream factory, where visitors can now enjoy delicious ice cream made in the Italian artisan tradition. To ensure the best possible quality, the Danish park sent some of its employees to Bologna in Italy to be trained in the art of ice cream production.
Park CEO Niels Jørgen Jensen is proud of what has been achieved: “Our mission has been accomplished! On the one hand, the Fårup team has once again shown irrepressible will and team spirit to make this project flourish, and on the other hand, we were once again able to work with some locally rooted craftsmen and consultants who have done a fantastic job, invested effort and dedication. This made the completion of this major project possible.” Partners for the new entrance area included P+P arkitekter and Lønborg Consulting Engineers.
While visitors can now once again experience the more than 60 attractions at Faarup Sommerland, the associated Aquapark will also open its doors from 29 May: Two new large slides from WhiteWater, “Stormfloden” and “Flodraketten”, went into operation there last summer (c.f. EAP 5/2024), which are likely to be among the most popular attractions on warm days this year. ■
