Falkensteiner Plans First Family Resort in Germany
(eap) The Austrian Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG) was recently awarded the contract for its first family resort on the German market. It is set to open in Grömitz on the Baltic sea coast (Bay of Lübeck). The four-star superior/five-star resort hotel of the Premium Collection category is scheduled to open 2027 – construction will start in summer 2025. The resort will comprise around 130 rooms, suites and apartments as well as a high-quality food & beverage concept. In addition, there will be various offers for families, such as a diverse entertainment program with educational approaches and childcare, as well as an adults-only area and a wellness spa.
“The famous seaside resort of Grömitz is a family vacation destination at its core. We see great potential here to make use of synergies in the destination offering,” says Erich Falkensteiner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of FMTG. “The location in the Bay of Lübeck is also perfect. Thanks to its proximity to major metropolitan areas such as Hamburg and Berlin, we are addressing completely new target groups that we would like to attract as Falkensteiner guests.”
“Around 25 percent of our guests already come from Germany. This makes our neighboring country one of our Group’s most important core markets,” explains Otmar Michaeler, CEO of FMTG. “It has long been our goal to gain a foothold in Germany with our own hotel. With the new location in Grömitz, we can now finally implement our successful strategy – to run our own hotels in our guests’ home markets – in Germany, too. We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for this fantastic hotel project and to have the trust of the municipality of Grömitz in our hotel group.” ■
