France: New Simulator Experience at La Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly Now Open
La Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly, an interactive museum named after French ocean sailor Éric Tabarly († 1998) and located in Lorient (Brittany, France), is all dedicated to the history of sailing. Since this spring, visitors have now the opportunity to experience a new simulator attraction, where guests can experience an immersive ocean sailing tour. This Stand-Up Theater is a combination of a simulator and a flying theater, according to manufacturer CL Corporation (since February 2020 part of Triotech). The twelve to 20 guests stand on ten platforms (for two persons each) during the experience – two places are reserved for people in wheelchairs. During the boat ride on the “Vendée Globe“ sailboat, which is visualised on screens in front of the audience, guests are experiencing an immersive adventure through the use of scent, blasts, vibrations, water and wind.
“We have a strong track record in edutainment for museums, aquariums and tourist attractions. We knew our technology would transport visitors into the experience with this stand-up platform, giving them the sensation they’re standing up on a sailboat offshore in a storm,“ said Christophe Lucchini, Managing Director of CL Corporation.
“In 2021, La Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly and Lorient Agglomération entrusted Triotech CL Corp Division with the development of the dynamic theater of La Cité de la Voile in Lorient, offering visitors a virtual immersive experience on board an offshore racing boat. Throughout this project, we appreciated the constructive spirit, the responsiveness, and the skills of the teams. This collaboration results in an attraction with innovative technology and easy maintenance […],” stated Jean-Marc Beaumier, Director at La Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly.
With the realization of this project, Triotech celebrates over a hundred attraction installations in Europe. (eap)
