Germany: Construction Work at Spreewelten Bad is Progressing

The future Apartment-Hotel Spreewelten is taking shape: Following the groundbreaking ceremony this past July (c.f. EAP news from July 29th, 2017), builders, owners and invited guests recently celebrated the roofing ceremony for the new hotel. “After you have parked comfortably and were warmly welcomed at our reception, you will access your barrier-free rooms that feature a typical regional design. Your children will immediately hide in the penguin niches and later have fun in the adjacent bathing complex …,” said Spreewelten Managing Director, Michael Jakobs. The new hotel is scheduled to open in late 2018.

Meanwhile, construction works in the Spreewelten Bad bathing complex are also progressing. In the course of the expansion of the water areas for visitors and the penguins (cf. EAP, 3/16 & EAP news from November 30th, 2016), the largest of five shafts, with a ground space of four by four meters and a weight of 25 tons, has recently been delivered to host water technology equipment, pumps and gushing water tanks in the future. Furthermore, “the foundation walls for the new toddler area have been completed, as well as the formwork for the panoramic window between the toddler area and the new penguin basin,” reported Jens Dutschke, Spreewelten Project Manager. On the other side of the bathing complex, the shell of the enlarged staff building has already been completed. Even though the Spreewelten Bad is currently surrounded by construction sites, visitors are still flocking to the bathing complex: "We observe that fathers and their sons look out of the windows towards the construction sites, observing the large vehicles with fascination," said Steven Schwerdtner, Head of Marketing at Spreewelten Bad.
