Germany: Europa-Park Mounts First Track of Its Coming New BigDipper Coaster
At Europa-Park Rust, the 14th roller coaster of the theme park is currently being built in the emerging area Croatia. After the structural work on the station building was carried out in the last months and the anchor baskets were sunk into the ground (on which numerous supports are mounted that carry the eight to twelve meter long track elements), the first track element was installed on Wednesday this week. Each of the track elements is manufactured as a unique piece with the help of robots and CNC-supported machines in an automated one-off production at the manufacturing company Mack Rides in Waldkirch. The total length of the new roller coaster, which is a custom BigDipper model from Mack Rides, will reach 1,385 meters. The ride is installed by RCS GmbH.
While the name of the new coaster has not yet been revealed, a glimpse of the planned theming has already been given. The coaster will be themed around the Croatian inventor and engineer Nikola Tesla and his electricity experiments. Fittingly, the so-called Wardenclyffe Tower aka “Tesla Tower”, which was used by Tesla for experiments on wireless energy transmission, will be part of the station building. The ride, which is expected to open in 2024, is the subject of a humorous construction documentary on VEEJOY – this year already represented with the 2nd season of “? - The Construction Documentary”, which captures the construction phases of the new coaster, including the arrival of the first rail element.
