Germany: Madame Tussauds Berlin Invites Guests to “The Golden Twenties“
Those who have always wanted to immerse themselves in the era of the shiny “Golden Twenties“ now have the opportunity to do so at Madame Tussauds Berlin waxwork museum. The Midway Attraction of the British operating group Merlin Entertainments recently opened its new 300-square-meter-large themed area dedicated to the glittering decade, inviting visitors to dance with stage icon Josephine Baker, have a drink with actress Marlene Dietrich or watch an evening performance of Charlie Chaplin in his role as the “Tramp“ at Berlin’s historic “Lunapark“ (1909-1933). Also to be found in this area but more likely belonging to the 1930s are the characters of sports legend Jesse Owens, who won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games, or Liza Minelli in her role as “Sally Bowles“ from the film “Cabaret“ set in Berlin in 1931. The Berlin-based designer Chris Lange was involved in the creation of the new area. (eap)
