Germany: Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg Sets New Guinness World Record with Classic Music
For some months now, Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg has been taking its visitors on a virtual tour behind the scenes of its model building world with videos posted on its Youtube channel. However, the (due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions) “abandoned” rooms of the Wunderland were filled with life again in the recent weeks as the team pursued the idea of a new record attempt. A track system was built through the rooms from “Scandinavia” to “Italy” and several thousand water glasses were placed around it. As a model locomotive equipped with small sticks ran through those water filled glasses, classical melodies could be heard. The result was the official Guinness World Record for the "Longest melody played by a model train".
“I am incredibly proud of this record and this beautiful video. But even happier and more important for me personally are the insights of the last weeks. We were as a team, despite physical distancing rules, as close as rarely and have together created something actually believed impossible. This gives me a lot of courage and anticipation for the next weeks,” explains Frederik Braun, co-founder of the Miniatur Wunderland.
