Germany: New Fairytale-Themed Exhibition to Launch this Autumn in Hamburg’s HafenCity
A new visitor attraction, the “Fairytale Worlds” exhibition will open its gates in Hamburg’s HafenCity district on September 14th this year, featuring multimedia experiences dedicated to the fairytales written by the Brothers Grimm. The 3,000-square meter exhibition will invite visitors to immerse themselves into various narratives, staged with artistically designed sets combined with interactive light, sound and computer technology. The exhibition architecture will take up the scheme of dramaturgical narrative structure so that the guests themselves can become part of the story and experience the emotions of the fairytale heroes.
“Our visitors will be released from their own reality to immerse into the emotions of our fairytale heroes, feeling courage, love, fear, betrayal or greed – feelings that shape fairytales since they’ve been brought to live. With different tasks and adventures to master, visitors will be confronted with their own emotions […],” explains Matthias Kammermeier, Chair of the Märchenwelten AG company.
Original exhibits such as manuscripts and illustrations by the Brothers Grimm will be presented in the “Treasure Chamber” (G.: “Schatzkammer”), the last room of the exhibition. An integrated experience gastronomy is also part of the attraction’s concept, providing room for up to 300 guests. After 2022, the new fairytale exhibition will travel to other German and international locations.
