Germany: Turmbergbad Outdoor Bathing Facility Invites to New Slide Challenge
This coming Saturday (May 6th) marks the start of this year’s outdoor pool season in the German city of Karlsruhe. Visitors to Turmbergbad can already look forward to the new “RedblaXX” slide, a Body²Racer model from Aquarena.
With a height of just under ten meters, the slide’s pylone towers above the outdoor pool area and draws attention to the slide, which was designed with a motor sports theme. A red and a black lane, both of the same length with a parallel layout, await the “competitors” – a fully automatic traffic light system gives the “go”. Additional sound effects (e.g. Formula 1, motorcycle or space shuttle) provide the sliders with the extra portion adrenaline. The 103 meter long slide is comprised of several helixes, daylight elements and stroboscope effects – in the splash-out area, water fountains shoot out of the ground. On a display, sliders can check their personal best time. The new slide is also appropriate for families with younger kids as the challenge modus can be switched off at the entrance. Next year, guests can also choose whether to use mats for the race.
The outdoor pool’s operator, Karlsruher Bäder, invested around 600,000 Euros in the new slide, creating a new USP for Turmbergbad. (eap)
