Germany: wiegand.maelzer GmbH Becomes wiegand.waterrides GmbH

After more than twelve years of successful, international and partner-like development of Germany’s wiegand.maelzer GmbH, Rainer Maelzer (photo) resigns from his current position as Co-Managing Director and leaves the company at the end of this month at his own request. Business partner Hendrik Wiegand takes over as sole Managing Director, supported by authorized signatory Thomas Schmitt. The new company name is wiegand.waterrides GmbH.
During his time as Managing Director, Rainer Maelzer rolled out the company from a Europe-wide supplier of waterslides to one of today’s “global players” in the leisure industry, with customers around the world. Among the most prestigious projects of the company are the innovative slide installations at Germany’s Therme Erding as well as the world’s first “SlideWheel” at Chinese Chimelong water park (read also our reports on the new attractions at Therme Erding & Chimelong in EAP 4/2018). In addition, over the past five years the manufacturer has established itself as one of the leading suppliers of water attractions for cruise ships.
In order to continue the company’s success in the future, wiegand.waterrides GmbH is going to intensify its existing cooperation with WhiteWater West – in April this year, the worldwide license for the SlideWheel was sold to the Canadian slide manufacturer. (eap)
