GlowZone: New Black Light Mini Golf Attraction in Essen
(eap) The GlowZone, a new indoor black light mini golf course, opened yesterday in Essen-Borbeck in Germany’s Ruhr region. With an area of over 800 square meters, the course is set to be the largest of its kind in the region. A total of 18 lanes offer minigolf fun regardless of the weather, divided into six themed worlds with 3D paintings and sound as well as fragrance effects. Around 6,200 bottles of spray paint were used to paint around 1,400 square meters of floor and wall surfaces. The also German company Interactive Lasergames supplied and installed the equipment and also realized the colourful design of the black light mini golf attraction. Patrick Wrobel and Steffen Appel, who also operate two other leisure facilities at the same location, the “LaserZone” and the recently opened “AxeZone” (News v. 18.06.24), are delighted with the opening of the GlowZone:
“We have been present in Essen for a number of years and have noticed that the city is hungry for new, varied experiences. Black light mini golf is still one of the most popular leisure attractions. What’s great is that the game is suitable for almost every age group and the challenge of improving with each lane and competing with your fellow players makes the experience particularly varied and motivates to repeat play.”
Furthermore, the company already has ideas for the future on how to expand the offer and experience for guests at the Essen location: “We still have some space and are thinking about implementing one of the first stationary karaoke attractions in Essen, among other things. There is no comparable offer in the city so far,” says Patrick Wrobel.
The GlowZone brand is part of the FunZone adventure worlds, which also offer other leisure activities such as laser tag, escape rooms, paintball and team battles in various cities across Germany. Besides Essen, there are indoor black light mini golf course locations of the same brand in Augsburg, Bielefeld, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Frankfurt, Mainz and Mönchengladbach. ■
