Hanover Adventure Zoo Presents Insect Macro Photography Exhibition

(eap) On September 9, 2023, a new exhibition will open at Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover, celebrating its premiere in Europe. The macro photography exhibition called “Extinct & Endangered: Insects in Peril” from the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York is designed to give visitors a new perspective on the insect world. In two- to three-meter photographs by award-winning photographer Levon Biss, every hair of a bee, no matter how thin, every wrinkle of a butterfly wing, becomes visible when magnified 300 times. The splendour of insects is intended to change guests’ perspectives on the value and importance of insect life and to raise awareness of how everyone can help protect insect populations.

“We are delighted to be working with the American Museum of Natural History, one of the most important natural history museums in the world,” said Zoo Executive Director Andreas M. Casdorff, adding, “Exctinct & Endangered provides fascinating insights into the world of insects. Hannover can be proud to be the first exhibition venue in Europe for this unique collection!” ■
