Hanover Adventure Zoo Remains under the Management of Andreas M. Casdorff
The Zoo Supervisory Board has appointed Andreas M. Casdorff as Zoo Director of the Hanover Adventure Zoo for the third time in a row. Casdorff will continue to lead the zoo, which he has done since 2013, presumably until 2028. “It is my honor and pleasure to continue to lead the zoo into the future in an innovative way – it is an extraordinary zoo with a highly committed team. Like hardly any other place, the Adventure Zoo stands for Hanoverian identification and joie de vivre, but also for education for sustainable development and practiced species protection. These two poles in particular need to be further developed.”
Under Casdorff’s leadership, exciting projects have been created in recent years, such as the “Alfi Mountain” theme world, the large “Zambezi Kraal” petting meadow and the “Zoologicum”, a world of knowledge with an associated “Amphibium”, which will be opened this season. Also, the zoo is doing very well economically, despite the impact of the pandemic and the current challenges of inflation and the energy crisis. “We’ve been able to significantly improve liquidity in recent years and are very much ahead of the game, with a cost recovery ratio of over 90%,” Casdorff reports.
In the near future, he says, the zoo has planned a lot. Among other things, the construction of a large elephant hall, a turtle house and the expansion of the Amphibium are planned. (eap)
