Havel-Therme Puts Sauna Ship into Operation
(eap) The Havel-Therme on the Großer Zernsee lake in Werder (near Berlin) now offers those seeking relaxation a very special sauna experience... At the sauna jetty, which winds 160 meters from the sauna garden into the lake, there is now a sauna ship. On this, wellness lovers can enjoy the view of the landscape through panoramic windows while taking a sauna and cool off directly in the natural waters after their sauna session. The 20-meter-long and 6-meter-wide sauna boat was built by the Kiebitzberg shipyard in eight months. A total of 2.5 million euros was invested in this special kind of sauna.
“We are proud and happy to have invested 2.5 million euros to create a new offer that is second to none,” emphasizes Andreas Schauer, investor and operator of the Havel-Therme. The sauna ship can make 60 guests sweat at the same time at around 80 degrees Celsius. The ship also has a 120 square meter sun deck with a barbecue kitchen. “This is wellness in a class of its own,” says Schauer.

The ship was christened “Kuuma”, which means “hot” in Finnish. The godmother was the mayor of Werder (Havel), Manuela Saß, who is delighted with the development of the wellness offer: “The Havel-Therme has developed into a real success project for our state-recognized resort. Well over a million guests have been counted since it opened. Many of our residents, as well as sauna and bathing enthusiasts from the surrounding area, are now regular guests,” says the mayor. “Behind this success is a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit and a highly motivated team of around 120 employees who do everything they can to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. [...] It is also another unique selling point for this beautiful resort on the Großer Zernsee.” ■
