Kings Dominion Gets Launched Wing Coaster “Rapterra“
(eap) The Kings Dominion theme park in Doswell, Virginia (U.S.), operated and owned by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, plans to open a new coaster in 2025 with “Rapterra”. This will be a Launched Wing Coaster from Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) – the tallest and longest in the world at 145 feet (over 44 meters) tall and 3,086 feet (over 940 meters) long, according to the park. Rapterra’s track layout includes a launch where passengers are accelerated to over 100 km/h in just four seconds before reaching the track’s peak above the “Jungle X-Pedition” themed area. The ride then plummets into a dive loop, which is followed by an S-turn, a wing slide, a flat spin, an airtime hill and a 360-degree raptor roll. In total the nearly 90 second ride will include a total of three inversions.

Work on the new Wing Coaster is already underway and is expected to be completed this fall. The ride will officially open next year. ■
