(eap) The Kings Island amusement park (part of Cedar Fair Entertainment Company), located in the US state of Ohio, is adding a new roller coaster to its range of attractions in 2024. As part of the expansion of the park’s existing Snoopy-themed kids’ area to include the “Camp Snoopy” adventure area, the park will receive a Family Boomerang Coaster from Vekoma Rides next year, which will be called “Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers” and offer a special ride experience. Visitors will be able to experience both forward and reverse rides on the soap box race featuring “Snoopy” and the “Peanuts”. After the passengers in the train are transported up an approximately 21-meter-high (70-foot-high) hill to the “starting line”, they will be released and launched forward, putting the soapboxes “on track” so to speak. After twists and turns, past the camp outlook station, the cars head towards the supposed finish line. Just as guests think they are about to cross it, the train rolls backwards down the hill again to run through the entire track once more in the reverse direction.

“Camp Snoopy is just what families visiting Kings Island have been looking for,” said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island. “We’ve designed this new immersive area to feel like a day at camp where families can spend time with each other in a variety of ways, from the thrill of a new coaster to exploring and relaxing in the great outdoors with their favorite Peanuts characters.”

When the new attraction opens, the park will then have five different roller coaster experiences for families with children. Construction of Camp Snoopy is scheduled to start this fall. ■
