EAP News of 12 July 2024), the Klimahaus Bremerhaven edutainment center welcomed the seven millionth guest since opening in summer 2009. With its curved glass facade, the Klimahaus is considered a landmark of the German seaport city of Bremerhaven and is delighted to be able to underpin its status as “the most successful science and experience center in northern Germany”.
In the Klimahaus, visitors embark on a “world tour” along the eighth eastern longitude and can immerse themselves in different habitats and places thanks to many interactive hands-on stations and other features. “All the senses are stimulated in the Klimahaus,” explains Managing Director Ingrid Hayen. “The majority of our visitors are already interested in the topic of climate change and protection and we are supporting this. Curiosity leads them into our exhibition, which provides them with lots of impressions and new knowledge. Afterwards, many of our visitors are highly motivated to contribute to climate protection themselves.”
The journey through the Klimahaus takes visitors across five continents to nine different locations, allowing them to experience temperatures and climates ranging from deserts to rainforests and the Antarctic. Sea and freshwater fish as well as snakes and lizards can also be discovered. The new “Weather Extremes” permanent exhibition, a special new attraction that extends over three floors and guides visitors through multimedia themed scenarios via a lifting platform, will open shortly. ■
