Leadership Change at Karls – Maximilian Mairinger Takes over as New Head of Experiences
On April 1st, Maximilian Mairinger has officially taken over as the new head of the “Experiences” business unit at Karls and is thus now responsible for the further development of the visitor offer at the various Karls Erlebnis-Dorf locations throughout Germany. His predecessor, Jörg Vogt, is stepping down from the position after almost ten years. Since he joined the company in 2014, the number of attractions has risen from a total of six rides in all Karls Erlebnis-Dorf sites at the time to a number of 30 now – the most recent additions (new rides) at “Karla’s Strawberry Garden” in Elstal. Ticket sales have increased fivefold over the years, and the current number of employees in the adventure area is over 200. Over the past few months, Vogt has worked closely with Maximilian Mairinger so that he can now hand over the baton to his successor with great confidence. Vogt himself will still support Karls in the future in setting up a new event department.
“I loved the job as Head of Experiences. Especially also the many fantastic ‘Karlsians’ I have met over the years. There are some really great guys in the team. I have had a very enjoyable and eventful time and am very proud to have played a part in the development of Karls over the past ten years,” comments Jörg Vogt.
Mairinger, who was previously responsible for the development, commissioning and supervision of international resort vacation facilities for several years at TUI, among other professional roles, and who was also in charge of the “Harzturm” project (read more in one of our upcoming magazine issues), is looking forward to the time ahead: “I am very pleased to be joining the Karls family. Jörg has played a significant role in the successful growth of Karls and I am very grateful for his openness and detail in the handover process. I am therefore very pleased, both humanly and professionally, that Jörg will remain with us, at least on a part-time basis. Karls still has enormous opportunities to continue the growth momentum, on the one hand in existing experience villages, but also in new locations. I am impressed by the energy, the agile ‘can do’ mentality and the commitment of the Karls employees I have met so far. As a result, I look forward to working with the entire team to get better together every day, deliver on Karls’ exciting growth strategy and inspire our fans to create lasting memories.”
Robert Dahl, owner of Karls, adds, “I am eternally grateful to Jörg Vogt for his tireless efforts as Head of Experience. The fact that he was still able to train his own successor Maximilian Mairinger himself is a situation that one can otherwise only dream of. At the same time, I am glad that Jörg will continue to support us in building up our new event department. Thank you, Jörg!“ (eap)
