Legoland Deutschland Expands Employee Accommodation

(eap) LEGOLAND® Deutschland Resort in Günzburg has grown significantly over the last ten years – and so has the number of employees. Due to the increased demand for professional staff and workers, Legoland has expanded its employee accommodation to a total of 500 rooms (450 single and 50 double rooms) in 24 buildings. With fully furnished rooms, social rooms and sports facilities, the Bavarian theme park (which is operated by Merlin Entertainments) aims to create attractive living conditions for its seasonal and international employees. In the high season, the resort employs around 2,000 people from over 60 nations. Especially in times of a shortage of skilled workers, it is crucial to create attractive housing options for its employees, the park states. The first employee accommodation was built close to the park back in 2016 – further accommodation was added on the Holiday Village site in 2021.

“For many of our employees, LEGOLAND Deutschland is more than just a workplace – it’s a temporary home. It was therefore important to us from the outset to offer them an environment in which they feel welcome and valued – the resort should become a second home for them,” says Manuela Stone, Managing Director of Legoland Deutschland Resort.

“In the tourism industry, it is crucial not only to offer first-class experiences for guests, but also to meet the needs of employees. Modern employee accommodation is an important step in creating an attractive working environment,” emphasizes Dr. Hans-Peter Sattler, Expert Advisory Board Tourism and Hotel Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg (Euro-FH).

In addition to employee accommodation, Legoland wants to offer its employees an easier start to their working life and promote cohesion among employees through joint leisure activities, team-building measures and onboarding seminars.
