Malaysia: ESCAPE Theme Park Builds Record-Breaking Waterslide
The ESCAPE theme park, which is located in Penang/Malaysia and operated by Sim Leisure Group Ltd., plans to open an over one kilometer (1,111 meter) long open tube slide, which has already been installed on the park grounds and is scheduled to start operation at the end of this month. The new attraction (dubbed “The Longest”), which was supplied by Daxin Waterpark Equipment from China, starts from a height of 70 meters (reached via a lift transportation system). The slide track consists of 488 individual parts and is supported by 326 pillars, leading through a forest in curvy sections. With its length of over one kilometer, the new slide has entered the Guinness World Records as the world’s longest water tube slide to date.
“Breaking the world record was never the intention. The idea of this water slide came about over frustration that most fun rides and water slides last merely a few seconds, and having the water slide start on a hilltop at a 70-metre elevation would make this ride last a good few minutes […],” explains Sim Choo Kheng, founder & CEO of Sim Leisure Group. Approx. 1.1 million Euros were invested into the new attraction. (eap)
