Netherlands: “Diamond Balloon“ Concept Connects Tourist Attraction with Striking Advertisement Platform
A group of Dutch entrepreneurs has recently presented their “Diamond Balloon“ concept, developed in cooperation with the also Dutch company of KCI the engineers B.V., DSM and the Technical University Delft. The stationary, helium-filled balloon combines a touristic observation cabin with a striking platform for advertisements.
The triangle-shaped balloon will have three large LED digital billboards, with a total screen surface of 2,700 sqm. Flying up to a height of 300 meters, it will be visible even from a 20 to 25 kilometer distance. An attached comfortable glass platform for up to 64 persons will be hoisted via the balloon main cables to a height of 175 meters. According to the developers, there is the option to equip the gondola with floorless seats rotating under the gondola, making the Diamond Balloon not only a family attraction but also a thrill-seekers adventure. The size of the gondola also allows for special events such as parties or corporate events. The main part of the ROI would be generated with the advertisement income only, the viewing gondola would be a secondary revenue stream, according to the concept.
The Diamond Balloon is an invention similar to the also stationary, helium-filled balloon attraction developed by French company Aérophile, who installed the “Generali Balloon“ in Paris and realized further projects at locations worldwide. (eap)
