New Aquanura Show “Efteling Symphonica” in the World of Wonders
(eap) A new Aquanura show – “Efteling Symphonica” – can be seen at the Dutch theme park Efteling. The original Aquanura water show celebrated its premiere in 2012 as part of the park’s 60th anniversary celebrations. It has now been extensively revised to provide fresh entertainment in the “World of Wonders”. The partner for the water show remake was once again the US company of WET Design.
The newly arranged soundtrack of the almost 15-minute show is a musical journey through time with both recognizable and new sounds from Efteling. The music covers all areas of the park – from the Fairytale Forest to the Dive Coaster “Baron 1898” and the latest attraction novelty “Danse Macabre” (read all about the world’s first installation of Intamin’s Dynamic Motion Stage in our next magazine issue EAP 1/2025). For the first time, well-known Efteling melodies are being interpreted in a different musical style for this show. Furthermore, the performance completely avoids the previous fire effects and therefore the use of propane. A new addition for Symphonica are the “Beacons of Light” – miracle lights with light effects.
“We are very happy with the end result. It is very special to experience a premiere together with our guests, because these reactions are the most important to us,” says Koen Sanders, Director of Product, Market and Image at Efteling. “We want to continue to innovate for both day and overnight guests. We are also taking another step in the right direction towards Efteling’s climate goal by removing the fire effects from the show. We want to be climate-neutral by 2030 and the use of such a show effect no longer fits in with this. With the wonder lights, a new piece of music and new effects, we have created a completely new experience.” ■
