New BBC Earth Experience in London Delights Visitors
Since this past weekend, London has another new attraction worth to be discovered: In the district of Earl’s Court (Kensington borough), the new BBC Earth Experience opened its doors to visitors for the first time. Produced in cooperation between BBC Studios, Moon Eye Productions and Live Nation, the immersive exhibition is based on the successful TV production series entitled “Seven Worlds, One Planet”. It consists of three themed worlds equipped with hundreds of multi-angle screens, audio and visual effects that allow visitors to take a 360-degree journey to explore the extraordinary biodiversity of the Earth’s seven continents on a microscopic scale.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the wonders of the Blue Planet in the “Micro Life Room”, the “Water Life Room” and the “Earth Room”. In the Water Life Room for example, they can discover the ocean floor and interact with life below the waves. Also, guests will hear a message from British wildlife filmmaker Sir David Attenborough on what they can do in their daily lives to protect the planet. Guests should plan about an hour for their visit.
The immersive exhibition is housed in a purpose built and demountable venue, the Daikin Centre. The Daikin UK company specializes in ecological indoor climate technology. For example, the production projectors installed in the Earth Experience use LED energy efficient technology, powered only by renewable energy. The screens are made of cotton, which can be repurposed after use. (eap)
