New Double Racer Slide at German das blau Water World
(eap) The St. Ingbert water world das blau (in Germany’s Saarland region) has recently added a new slide highlight under the name “Magic Twice”. After an extensive planning and construction phase, the new competition double slide – which offers two parallel slide tubes with a length of over 90 meters – was ceremoniously opened at the end of June. With a height difference of ten meters, the slide provides rapid descents, where speeds of up to 36 km/h can be reached. Here, two opponents can now compete in a slide race at the same time. During the summer season, the Magic Twice can be accessed from the associated outdoor pool and, from September, from the indoor pool. The attraction, realized by the Swiss company Klarer Freizeitanlagen, is equipped inside with special lighting effects such as running lights, light rollers and light spider webs. It also received special thermal insulation for better energy efficiency. The slide tower and the winter garden for the landing pool were executed by the construction company Wolf & Sofsky. The total cost of building the slide amount to 650,000 euros.
The opening of the new double slide is a further milestone in the current construction measures at das blau, which are being implemented as part of a comprehensive modernization and expansion of the entire leisure pool complex with an investment volume of 6.5 million euros. In the outdoor pool area, a new ticket office building, a new changing room and sanitary building, a new catering area, an additional kiosk and new sunbathing areas have already been built in recent years. In 2022, the outdoor pool also received a new slide complex made of stainless steel (from wiegand.waterrides), which offers three different slides: a large water slide, a free-fall slide and a wide-wave slide (all approved for children over the age of seven).
Construction work in the indoor pool area is also scheduled to be completed by the end of July. A new learning pool and a toddler pool are being built there (water play elements by Roigk, bathing water technology: aquila), as well as a connection between the new Magic Twice slide and the indoor pool area for the fall-winter season. ■
