New Interactive Shakespeare Museum Emerges in London
(eap) Next year, the English capital London will be enriched by a new immersive museum attraction: The Museum of Shakespeare is being created on the grounds of the remains of the 16th century Elizabethan theatre The Curtain Playhouse, whose subterranean ruins have been uncovered in the course of extensive archaeological work. Next year, the new attraction will open its doors to visitors, who will then be able to immerse themselves in the time of the important British playwright William Shakespeare, whose works are a famous part of world literature.
Using digital projections, historical artefacts and AI-powered animated performances, the museum will transport guests back to 1598, when the young Shakespeare was exploring the risky, creative possibilities of theatre. Effects such as scent and sound will also be used in the sceneries. Visitors to the new museum will be able to learn interesting facts about Shakespeare’s life and work in an interactive way.
The new attraction is being created by London-based design agency Bompas & Parr in collaboration with Cain International, the Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA), Historic England and an academic panel. “This will be Shakespeare as you have never experienced it before,” promises Harry Parr, co-founder of Bompas & Parr. ■
