(eap) In Tashkent, the capital of the Central Asian Republic of Uzbekistan, a leisure resort covering an area of almost 30 hectares is to be built with a water park as its centerpiece, hotels and shopping facilities. The Tourism and Entertainment Group (TEG), part of the Uzbek AKFA Group, is planning to invest around 234 million euros – the Californian company Legacy Entertainment has been commissioned with the design planning for the resort, which is to reflect the “Grand Serai” theme based on the caravanserai along the Silk Road that runs through the country. The first phase of the development is scheduled to open in 2027.

“The architectural design of the park will be meticulously crafted to reflect Uzbekistan’s history and traditions, ensuring that every aspect of The Grand Serai resonates with the country’s cultural identity. Visitors can expect a journey through time, as they traverse the park, encountering modern thrills intertwined with echoes of the past,” said executives from TEG.

While Grand Serai is the design motif for the entire resort development, the individual zones are to be given their own individual focus: The retail area will be called “The Silk Road Shops”, for example, while the water park will pick up on the colour azure blue – a specific shade of the Uzbek flag. TEG plans to announce further information on the planned water park and associated resort facilities in the near future.

“Our team thrives on creative challenges. The depth and diversity of Uzbekistan’s culture, both ancient and modern, is providing us with some of the most exciting inspiration our team has ever had to work from. As of this moment, no one has interpreted Uzbekistan’s culture through a theatrical or cinematic lens – so everything is on the table for our very experienced team to work with,” commented Markus King, Chief Projects Officer at Legacy Entertainment. ■
