As was recently announced, January 2023 will see the start of an extensive refreshment program for the “Titanic Experience” exhibition at the Titanic Belfast museum in the Northern Irish captial. Several million British Pounds will be invested into the redesign to be realized next spring – the largest single investment to date in the visitor attraction, which opened in 2012. The funds for the overhaul project come from the Titanic Belfast Gallery Refreshment Fund, set up when the building opened as part of the commercial operator agreement and held by the charity owner, Maritime Belfast Trust.

“We are delighted to have welcomed the seven millionth visitor to Titanic Belfast and are now looking forward to embarking on our most ambitious project and single largest investment to date, in a multi-million-pound refreshment which will see the Titanic Experience transformed. […] We will continue to push boundaries with immersive technology, original maritime heritage and the authentic Titanic story, to deliver an enriched, emotive visitor experience,” explains Denise Kennedy, Titanic Belfast’s Head of Operation.

During the refreshment period, Titanic Belfast will be closed to visitors from 2 January to 28 February, 2023. However, two daily outdoor “Discovery Tours” will enable guests to learn more about the Titanic story during this time and visitors can also purchase a new standalone ticket for the “SS Nomadic”, the world’s last White Star Line ship, which can be found as a museum ship just a stone’s throw from the museum. Fun fact: The Titanic Belfast museum is housed in an architecturally striking building 23 meters high, the same height as the legendary Titanic had from keel to bridge at the time. (eap)
