Puy du Fou Cancels Plans for Dutch Theme Park Location

(eap) Puy du Fou International – the enterprise of the French show theme park Puy du Fou – has decided to not move forward with its plans to develop a further European theme park location in the Dutch municipality of Meppel (province of Drenthe) – those responsible for the project had been examining its feasibility in the past months. “The Puy du Fou Meppel project was in the running with other potential locations in Europe. Despite the qualities of the site and the remarkable commitment of the municipality of Meppel and the Drenthe region, it was decided in early January 2024 not to pursue the project further in order to focus the Group’s efforts on destinations with a more obvious potential for success,” the Puy du Fou states towards EAP.

In 2021 opened Puy du Fou España in Toledo, the first Puy du Fou theme park outside France (read also our article in EAP 3/2021). Show cooperation projects are underway worldwide. In the Netherlands in particular, Puy du Fou and Efteling have been working closely together for several years now. However, it remains to be seen where another complete theme park of the brand will be realized in Europe. ■
