Säntispark to Open New Water Slides & Sauna Facilities Soon
(eap) Construction work at the Swiss Säntispark leisure center (located about a 15 minutes’ drive from St. Gallen) is progressing according to plan: two new water slides and a slide experience enhanced with Virtual Reality options are to become available to Säntispark guests on 28 September. In addition, the modernized sauna world and a new bistro at the adventure pool are also scheduled to open.
Slide fans can look forward to the new “Talfahrt” (Engl.: “Downhill”) water slide, on which guests will reach high speeds. Stroboscope and light effects along the 66-metre-long slide channel are designed to provide extra excitement. The second new slide will be called “Kristalljagd” (Engl.: “Crystal Hunt”) and, with its 122-metre-long slide channel, will be almost twice as long as Talfahrt. In keeping with its name, sliders will face the challenge to chase and catch as many sparkling crystals as possible in one of three gaming modes. Both new water attractions were supplied by Germany’s wiegand.waterrides.
Bald werden zwei der drei neuen Rutschen fertig montiert sein - die dritte Neuheit soll im Dezember eröffnen. In addition to these novelties, the existing “Wildbach” water slide can be experienced in virtual reality in future: Equipped with a VR headset, guests will be able to “immerse” themselves in virtual environments when sliding if they wish – there will be three spectacular theme worlds (Pirate Island, Safari & Space Aliens) to choose from. “There has never been a slide with virtual reality effects in Switzerland before. We are really looking forward to this innovation,” emphasizes Michael Selb, Head of Säntispark Leisure.
From the end of September, guests at Säntispark will also be able to discover an even more varied sauna landscape. The former ladies’ sauna area is currently being transformed into a modern sauna corner with an 80°C wellness sauna, a microsalt lounge (40°C) and a brine steam bath (45°C). These innovations are being implemented in collaboration with the company of Klafs. According to Säntispark, a new bistro directly connected to the existing building and mainly made of timber is also close to its opening. With around 80 seats, the new bistro will remedy current bottlenecks in catering.
With the planned debut of the new features on September 28, the ongoing construction work at Säntispark will not yet be fully completed: The opening of a new outdoor adventure pool and another water slide is scheduled for the beginning of December this year. ■
