Saudi Arabia: Boulevard RUH City Attracts with Numerous New Entertainment Offers
After a four-month construction period, the “Boulevard RUH City” (Boulevard Riyadh City) in the north of the Saudi Arabian capital was opened to the public at the beginning of last week. It has been completely revamped in the context of the “Riyadh Season 2021” – a five-month long city festival designed to boost the kingdom’s economic and tourist activities. With an area covering around 90 hectares, the entertainment, shopping, gastronomy and promenade mile is now three times as large as before and from now on said to be the entertainment hub and outstanding landmark of the city. Various restaurants, cafés, gardens, gaming centers, festivals and stores as well as events and seasonal activities are to offer visitors the best in entertainment.
One of the nine zones into which the entertainment district is now divided is called the “Studio” zone and features a brand-new simulator attraction: “Masameer Experience”, a 6-DOF Stargazer Ride from British supplier Simworx, with a theme based on the popular Saudi Arabian comic series “Masameer”, developed by Studio Myrkott and produced for Netflix. After a preshow in which familiar characters from the series already appear, guests take a seat in one of the carts, which are designed like a pick-up truck. Onboard effects, such as wind and water sprayers, underline the on-screen action. Simworx worked with Sela to implement this attraction, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to the manufacturer.
Current events on the boulevard include the “Crystal Maze Live Experience” running until March 30 next year, a live escape game that is being implemented here for the first time outside the UK after Manchester and London. (eap)
