Scare Season Is Just Around the Corner – Theme Parks Enter Into Halloween Season
Halloween has become a not insignificant season in the theme park industry. The creepy festival originating from the USA, which has its climax on October 31, so in the evening before All Saints’ Day, is celebrated in most parks with various events and seasonal attractions over several weeks. Besides various horror attractions and events, there are also nice scary offers for families with their little ones.
This year (2 October to 7 November), Germany‘s Europa-Park will once again shine in autumnal colours, as the park will be seasonally decorated with thousands of pumpkins, chrysanthemums, corn plants and bales of straw to match the Halloween and autumn season. The ice show “Surpr‘ice with the Celtic Shadows“, the musical event “Immortal Legends – a musical graveyard“ and a daily Halloween parade provide visitors with a themed show programme for Halloween in Rust. For the youngest park visitors, Europa-Park also offers an age-appropriate Halloween village including a maze for children. Halloween and horror fans will get their money‘s worth during the park’s “Horror Nights – Traumatica“ as well as with the YULLBE “Traumatica“ VR horror survival experience.
Child-friendly scares are also on offer for visitors to the Karls destinations in Rövershagen and Elstal (until 1 November), where there is an exciting experience for the youngest visitors in the form of the “Angsthasenscheune“ (Eng.: Scared Rabbit Barn), which takes them to the rumpus-filled attic of mascot “Karlchen“. In addition, the tractor rides have been seasonally decorated. In the manufacturies themed sweets and snacks are produced.
For the 23rd time, monsters, zombies and the undead will conquer the park grounds in Bottrop-Kirchhellen (1 October to 7 November) during the “Halloween Horror Festival“ at Movie Park Germany. In addition to the horror attractions and scare zones familiar from previous years, this season the park is offering two new horror experiences with the “Acid Warrior“ horror course (from 16 years) and the “Fear Forest – Path of Witches“ (from 12 years). For the different horror houses, guests have to book a time ticket online and pay an additional surcharge. For children aged four to twelve, there is the opportunity to take part in the children‘s Halloween events in the “Nickland“ theme area every day until 5 p.m.
The Heide Park Resort offers scary fun for young and old again this year (15 -31 October). The spooky decorated resort with music and atmospheric lighting offers extended opening hours and the horror maze "Obscuria" (from 16 years of age) on all Fridays and Saturdays in addition to the family spook. For the horror experience on the 500-meter-long running track, it is necessary to book time tickets at an extra price. For the youngest Halloween fans from three to seven years, it's "Save the magical enchanted forest!" - the good forest fairy needs support. The characters in Peppa Pig Land have also dressed up appropriately for a spooky Meet & Greet…
From 9 October, the Halloween season will also be hosted at Dutch Toverland. In keeping with the 20th anniversary, the “20 Years of Fear“ scare experience has been developed, a labyrinth in which visitors will encounter frightening figures from past Halloween seasons. With “Maison de la Magie“, “The Dollhouse“, “Fear The Woods“ and the “The Witches Forest“ walkthrough, there are further experiences with goosebumps guaranteed for an extra charge. There will also be additional free scare zones for visitors in the themed areas of the park. (eap)
