SeaWorld Celebrates 60th Anniversary
(eap) The SeaWorld brand is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Guests are invited to experience new rides, parades, shows and culinary delights at all SeaWorld parks as part of the “So Much More to Sea” anniversary campaign. The celebration kicks off on March 21 – exactly 60 years after the first SeaWorld park – SeaWorld San Diego – opened its doors for the first time.
New attractions await park guests at every SeaWorld park in spring: In San Antonio, visitors can look forward to “Catapult Falls”. The world’s first Launched Flume Coaster from Intamin will provide an adrenaline-filled cool-down with a vertical lift, booster section and a 53-degree drop. SeaWorld Orlando invites young and old to take a ride on the new “Penguin Trek” Family Launch Coaster from B&M. In the new attraction “Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience” at SeaWorld San Diego, guests can learn interesting facts about different types of jellyfish and their way of life. In addition to the new attractions, visitors can look forward to a parade created especially for the 60th anniversary.
Under the hashtag “#SeaWorld60”, the park group invites fans to reminisce online and share their favourite stories from the past six decades. “Throughout our history, our SeaWorld parks have offered fun and enriching experiences, from up-close animal encounters and educational programs to award-winning marine-life themed rides and attractions, special events and exciting entertainment. We have been and continue to be committed to creating exciting and immersive experiences that help inspire guests of all ages to protect animals and the wild wonders of our world,” said Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. (or United Parks & Resorts, as the US operator group has recently been renamed). “Now, as we celebrate our 60th Anniversary, there’s truly ‘So Much More to Sea’ at SeaWorld. We’re inviting our guests to join us on a journey through our past and all that makes SeaWorld such a special place today, while also exploring all that’s new and exciting this year, including thrilling new rides and attractions, exciting new presentations and shows, exclusive experiences offers and limited-edition food and beverage, merchandise and collectibles.” ■
