SeaWorld Entertainment Changes Name to United Parks & Resorts
(eap) The US theme park operator group SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. is changing its corporate name to United Parks & Resorts, Inc., effective 12 February 2024. The group’s ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange will be “PRKS” from the trading date of 13 February. The 13 leisure facilities managed by the group are not affected by the name change: The brands SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Discovery Cove, Sesame Place, Water Country USA, Adventure Island and Aquatica will be retained.
“Our new company name, United Parks & Resorts Inc., better reflects that we have been, and will continue to be, a diverse collection of park brands and experiences. Each of our iconic parks, including the four SeaWorld parks in Orlando, San Antonio, San Diego and Abu Dhabi, will continue to operate under the same names our guests know and love. What also remains unchanged is our deep commitment to creating experiences that matter for our guests and inspiring them to help protect animals and the wild wonders of the world,” comments Marc Swanson, the company’s CEO.
The SeaWorld Group, or United Parks & Resorts in future, currently operates twelve theme parks in the USA and a further location in the Emirates, where the new SeaWorld Abu Dhabi marine theme park celebrated its opening last summer and has since attracted a great deal of attention in the global leisure industry, particularly with the “Hypersphere 360” dome ride – an extraordinary simulator ride realized by the European manufacturing companies Attraktion! and Intamin. ■
