(eap) In the Mexican metropolis of Monterrey (capital of the north-eastern state of Nuevo León), more precisely in the Galerías Valle Oriente shopping center, the country’s third Sealand Acuarioventura-branded visitor aquarium opened this month. As at the other locations in Guadalajara (opened in 2022) and León (2023), the new attraction from Mexican operator group Ventura Entertainment features marine species and interactive experiences embedded in four themed worlds.

According to the underlying storyline, visitors embark on a journey with the mythical submarine “Sealand”. They discover a sunken city in the Amazon, the snowy Antarctic, the Bermuda Triangle and Easter Island. In addition to more than 60 animal species – from sharks and rays to the Mexican axolotl, colorful exotics and penguins, just to name a few – the aquarium also has a laser maze, slides, real snow (e.g. for throwing snowballs) and a virtual reality station on offer. At the latter, guests can go on a virtual treasure hunt using a VR headset and while sitting on a motion seat, where they can get up close to menacing sharks and imposing rays... Sealand Acuarioventura targets to appeal to the whole family, is also wheelchair-accessible and aims to entertain while providing interesting facts about the various animal species and habitats on display. According to its own information, the facility is involved in various breeding projects and in cooperations with state institutions and universities.

In addition to Sealand Acuarioventura, operator Ventura Entertainment has several other brands in its portfolio – the company is the official franchise partner for Topgolf in Mexico and is also operator of attractions such as Dolphinaris, Acuario Inbursa and Toca Social (a soccer gaming offering). The company states to welcome more than two million guests to its facilities every year. ■
