Six Flags Launches Metaverse Experience on Roblox
(eap) Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (recently merged with Cedar Fair, see EAP news from 02.07.24) has launched a metaverse experience on Roblox.
The online gaming platform Roblox, which was launched in 2006 and allows users to create their own games and play them with other users, has gained popularity, particularly due to the Covid pandemic, and now has over 75 million users worldwide every day. Players can also immerse themselves in the numerous worlds of Roblox using a VR headset and play from a first-person perspective.
The digital Six Flags experience offers a wide range of interactive experiences, including virtual roller coaster rides, exciting mazes inspired by “Fright Fest” and games. In partnership with Digital Twin’s “Coastercoin” software, users can collect these coins in the digital world and then redeem them for Six Flags rewards and activities in the real Six Flags parks. According to Six Flags, this seamless connection between the virtual and physical worlds is a world first in the leisure industry and represents a milestone in the Group’s digital transformation strategy.
“Bringing Six Flags to Roblox has enabled us to create a one-of-a-kind metaverse experience that will engage and entertain our fans in innovative ways,” said Selim Bassoul, executive chairman of the board of directors of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. “This initiative underscores our dedication to pioneering new entertainment frontiers and setting industry standards.” ■
