The Netherlands: Frankwin van Beers Leaves Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen
Today, Dutch Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen has officially announced that its Director, Frankwin van Beers (photo), will leave the company. For almost nine years, van Beers has been at the helm of the zoo, previously known under its former name Dierenpark Emmen, which was reopened on a new site as Wildlands Adventure Zoo in 2016 (cf. EAP, 4/16). Also, van Beers steps down from his position as Director of the adjacent ATLAS Theatre. His resignation was agreed on in joined consultation with the Supervisory Board.
“With heart and soul I’ve been leading the realization of this unique project, supported by a great team. As a result, Emmen has two new attractions, of which the city can be proud,” commented van Beers.
“After many years of preparations, Frankwin made sure to realize the new park in time and within the given budget. The result is a beautiful, innovative park. In addition, the ATLAS Theatre has evolved into a lively, cultural gathering place. For his unlimited commitment, his enthusiasm and his focus on the development of Wildlands and the ATLAS Theatre, we owe him our deep respect and we thank him from our hearts,” said Marcel Schonenberg on behalf of the Supervisory Board.
The Supervisory Board is now searching for a successor for van Beers’ position and plans to name an interim Director shortly. (eap)
