The Rise of Icarus: 145-Feet-Slide Tower to Debut this Weekend
(eap) This weekend, the 145 feet (44 metre) high slide tower “The Rise of Icarus” will celebrate its opening at the Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells, USA. According to the park, the 145 feet slide tower is the tallest in the country. The tower comprises five colourful body slides, including four tube slides and a free-fall slide from Canadian manufacturer WhiteWater West. One of the slides starts from the very top at a height of around 145 feet and winds its way down around the slide tower. The name of the slide tower and its large decorative symbol were designed in reference to “Icarus”, the son of “Daedalus” in Greek mythology.
In addition to the sliding action for older visitors, the youngest guests will be able to enjoy a new 12,000 square feet (1,100 square meter) kiddie area with various water play elements and ten slides suitable for children (also from WhiteWater). Furthermore, there will be more sun-protected seating options and cabanas with air conditioning as well as a new bar, retail and locker building. ■
