Therme Group Announces First Location in Asia-Pacific, South Korea
(eap) Therme Group, focused on the development and operation of large thermal spa resorts on an international level and headquartered in Vienna, recently announced the location for its first project in the Asia-Pacific region: A wellbeing resort of the Therme Group brand is to be realized in Incheon City, South Korea, as part of the local Golden Harbor development. A memorandum of agreement was signed by Therme Group’s Senior Vice President Stelian Iacob and Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) commissioner Kim Jinyong. The agreement will see project plans progressing throughout 2024 and an expected lease in 2025. Subject to finalized plans and permissions, construction is expected to take two to three years. After completion, the Therme site will be easily accessible to millions of domestic and international guests as plans show, not least thanks to the location’s proximity to Incheon International Airport (15 minutes) and Seoul city centre (about one hour).
Commenting on the project, Stelian Iacob said, “Golden Harbor is truly spectacular, and it is fitting to bring our first Asia Pacific Therme to this iconic global gateway location. South Korea has rich and varied wellbeing traditions, and we look forward to working with local partners to reflect this history and culture.” Kim Jinyong added, “Therme’s spectacular resort will appeal to all residents and tourists, not only boosting our economy but also positioning Incheon as a world-leading wellbeing city of the future.”
Golden Harbor is Therme’s first announced location in Asia Pacific, with further projects to follow in the region. In Europe, the company group is currently working on the development of the new thermal spa resort in Bad Vilbel, Germany, in cooperation with its partner Thermengruppe Josef Wund. ■
