Thoiry ZooSafari: Spend the Night with the Elephants
(eap) Thoiry ZooSafari is a 150-hectare safari park and zoo on the grounds of Thoiry Castle in the Yvelines department (Île-de-France region). A total of 1,500 animals from more than 180 species, including 60 species threatened with extinction, can be discovered in the French zoo by visitors either in their own cars during the safari or on foot. The park also offers animal encounters of a special kind with offerings such as the 500-meter “Kilimanjaro zip line”, where up to two people can fly over the lion enclosure.

A new, immersive experience will be available to visitors from September: visitors will have the opportunity to spend the night in one of the five new premium lodges in the zoo’s elephant enclosure. Up to six people can be accommodated in each lodge, and the animals can be observed particularly well from a private terrace with which each of the lodges is equipped. The new overnight offer is bookable all year round starting from 150 euro per person (with quadruple occupancy). It is part of the “Terres d'Afrique” project, in the context of which also the 1,400-square-meter-large new “Maison des Éléphants” has been developed. The enclosure, which covers a total of three hectares, will serve as the new home of three male elephants, which are to benefit here from optimum husbandry conditions. The total investment volume amounts to more than three million euros.
In addition, a new playground for three- to twelve-year-olds with an adventure course, a large web spider and slide huts on an area of more than 250 square meters awaits visitors in the Thoiry ZooSafari since this season. ■
