UK: Queen Elizabeth II Has Died † – IAAPA Expo Europe to Take Place as Planned
The flags are at half-mast: After a 70-year reign, Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, has died at the age of 96 yesterday. Over the next ten days, the United Kingdom will officially bid farewell to its Queen, who overcame wars and crises and left her mark on a century. For many people in the UK, she was a source of strength and confidence, and this is not the only reason why there is great mourning for the British head of state. Now all eyes are on London: because IAAPA Expo Europe, the European leisure trade fair, is scheduled for next week (12/13-15 September 2022) in the English capital, to which the international industry association IAAPA has invited to the ExCeL London convention centre.
The question is whether the event can now go ahead as planned. An official statement from IAAPA says, “In consultation with the ExCeL, we have confirmed IAAPA Expo Europe and all related activities will continue as planned from September 12-15.” Nonetheless, for reasons of reverence, all celebrations and events surrounding the show will certainly be quieter than usual. To pay a final tribute to the British monarch and to show sympathy with the British Royal Family, ExCeL London convention centre will lower its flags to half-mast and a book of condolence will be available within the centre. Rest in Peace, Queen Elizabeth II!
