UK: Wiegand Slides Part of “Decision” Exhibition in London
In cooperation with the German-Belgian artist Carsten Höller Germany’s slide manufacturer Josef Wiegand GmbH & Co. KG created two identical slides. Until September both 39 meter long tube slides, which are part of Höller’s exhibition “Decision”, will be attached to the exterior wall of London’s Hayward Gallery, located in Southbank Center. Thus, visitors can decide whether they prefer to leave the exhibition in the classical way through the door or from a height of 15.5 meters through one of the spiral chutes. The artist describes the slides as “a graceful sculptural installation”. Already in year 2006 Höller and Wiegand worked together. At that time, they equipped London’s Tate Modern Gallery with five slides (cf. EAP, issue 6/2006). (eap)
