USA: Children‘s Museum of Eau Claire Moves to New Location
The Children‘s Museum of Eau Claire (CMEC), which opened in December 2004 in the city of Eau Claire (Wisconsin), plans to welcome visitors in a new, larger location as of 2022. On over 2,400 square meters (26,000 square feet), children will be able to extend their knowledge in the fields of science, technology, arts and mathematics through numerous playfully designed exhibitions. In addition to the exhibits, various programs and an outdoor area, as well as a preschool that will be located on the property, will be developed. The master plan for the new museum concept was developed by JRA and will be realised with museum architects from Chicago Scenic Studios and other local businesses.
The financing of the project was made possible thanks to a donation of the Pablo Foundation. The organization’s Executive Director, MaiVue Xiong, comments, “We believe education comes in all forms, from traditional classrooms to learning through play. We are excited to partner with the CMEC to not only build upon its success in creating educational experiences through play, but to extend these types of learning experiences to as many people in our community as possible, regardless of their socioeconomic status.” Michael McHorney, Executive Director of the CMEC says: “In a short period of time, Pablo Foundation has established itself as a philanthropic leader in our community, and we’re so grateful to have this support for our project.
