USA: New Record Rollercoaster “The Steel Curtain” Opened at Kennywood

This past Saturday saw the opening of the new “The Steel Curtain” rollercoaster at US theme park Kennywood, located in Pennsylvania (cf. EAP News f. July 25th, 2018). This new flagship ride, manufactured by S&S Worldwide, features a 60 meter (197 feet) high looping, setting a new world record. The coaster will be the anchor attraction of the new football-themed “Steelers Country” theme area, including a number of interactive games, retail shops and dining experiences, scheduled to open at a later date. The approx. 1.2 kilometer (4,000 feet) long coaster track features a total of nine inversions, the highest of which is followed by an over 62-meter (205-foot) drop.
“This rollercoaster changes the landscape of Kennywood completely and brings a whole new level of thrill to Southwestern Pennsylvania […],” comments Jerome Gibas, General Manager of Kennywood.
