World’s First Sports Illustrated Hotels & Resorts to Come to Dominican Republic and the USA
Sports Illustrated, one of the most renowned US American sport magazines, has announced to create the Sports Illustrated Hotels & Resorts, which are set to begin rolling out worldwide and for which Sports Illustrated has contracted themed experience company Storyland Studios with the master planning and design. A variety of active experiences, wellness offerings, dining experiences and attractions for all ages and families will be offered to the guests. For live sport events, the resorts are planned to be located near university campuses where guests will be able to attend e.g. football games. The first two locations are planned to open in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) in 2023 and in Orlando (Florida) in 2024.
“Storyland is thrilled to begin the design and master planning processes for the global family of Sports Illustrated resorts,” said Ben Thompson, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Global Clients at Storyland Studios. “Our incredibly talented and diverse team of artists and artisans is well-equipped to deliver unforgettable experiences for guests of all ages and backgrounds.” “We’re honored to be a part of bringing our team’s concepts for this resort to life. Sports Illustrated is known worldwide for its enduring influence in the sports world. Transforming the brand from page to themed environment, then inviting sports enthusiasts, families, and adults of all ages to immerse themselves in that space, is going to be an incredibly exciting journey,” comments Mel McGowan, Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Storyland, who will lead the design.
At the helm of the resort development is the Authentic Brands Group, owner of Sports Illustrated, collaborating with Experiential Ventures Hospitality LLC., a brand development, marketing and entertainment company, and ADMI Inc., a project development agency, to realize the project. (eap)
