eye55: Dinner on a Ferris Wheel

(eap) Guests can now enjoy culinary highlights in one of Germany’s highest transportable Ferris wheels, the “eye55”, located next to the Westfield CentrO in Oberhausen (North Rhine-Westphalia). Last week, a special kind of dinner took place for the first time on eye55: A total of eight gondolas of the Ferris wheel were equipped with tables, each of which could seat up to four people. More events like this are to follow. Visitors are cooked for by chef Stefan Opgen-Rhein, who also creates meals for the Rot-Weiß Oberhausen footballers and various Olympic athletes, among others.

“We’ve had the idea of using our Ferris wheel for extraordinary events for some time. In the past, we have already hosted weddings and marriage proposals on board. With our dinner on the Ferris wheel, we want to create an extraordinary experience that our guests remember for a long time to come. There has never been anything like it in Germany!” says Thomas Meyer, who runs the eye55 with his family business Meyer Entertainment. “In Stefan Opgen-Rhein, we have found a great local partner who has been passionately involved right from the start.”

“With more than 40 years of experience in event catering, I have already been able to provide culinary support for a wide variety of events. But I’ve never seen a dinner on a Ferris wheel before – that was something very special,” says chef Opgen-Rhein. “We are overwhelmed by the positive response. People are looking for extraordinary experiences and a dinner on a Ferris wheel is definitely one of them,” summarizes Meyer.

Special experiences on a Ferris Wheel have already proven to be successful side offers, e.g. at the Vienna Ferris Wheel or the London Eye. ■
