teamLab Planets TOKYO Opens Expansion
(eap) The digital art museum teamLab Planets TOKYO, located in Tokyo’s district of Toyosu, has increased its exhibition space by a factor of 1.5. Since the end of January, visitors have been able to enjoy new areas with more than 20 additional works of art. The new additions include the “Athletics Forest” – a multi-dimensional, creative sports space –, the “Catching and Collecting Forest”, where visitors can catch and study extinct animals, and the “Future Park”, a space that invites visitors to work creatively together.
The interactive museum has also been expanded to include the “Orchid Glass House”, where guests can enjoy tea and cold drinks. In the new “Living Art Store”, they can purchase orchids that once bloomed in the “Floating Flower Garden” artwork. In the “Sketch Factory”, visitors can transform their own works of art into original products to take home. The outdoor area “Black Emptiness Table”, where food from the restaurant Vegan Ramen UZU Tokyo is being served, has also undergone an extensive renovation.
The teamLab artist collective not only presents its works in Tokyo, but also develops exhibitions worldwide. New museums are currently planned for Kyoto, Abu Dhabi and Hamburg. ■
