“Go” for New Year-Round Leisure Pool in Metzingen!
(eap) The Baden-Württemberg town of Metzingen in the south of Germany is getting a new year-round leisure pool. This was recently decided in a municipal council meeting. The old Eduard-Kahl-Bad pool and Metzingen’s outdoor pool are still quite popular among residents, clubs and schools. However, there is a specific need for modernization at both facilities, for example with regard to the entire pool and building technology as well as the sanitary facilities. Ultimately, the town of Metzingen decided against renovating the existing facilities and opted for a new building at the Bongertwasen site, which is considered more economical and attractive. The construction company Gottlob Brodbeck from Metzingen was chosen to implement the new year-round pool and is now responsible for the project together with the partners KRIEGER Architekten, DTF Ingenieure, Freiraumplanung Siegmund and Falthauser Krapf.

The new leisure pool will have more pools and a larger water surface area. In future, five pools with a total area of around 1,000 square meters will be available indoors, which is more than twice the size of the existing indoor pool. In addition, the new combined pool will offer a comprehensive range of leisure and health offerings. These will include a children’s pool, a training pool, a sauna including garden and relaxation rooms as well as a tube slide, a water climbing wall, diving platforms, a soccer pitch and volleyball court as well as areas to relax. Furthermore, the new, modern pool will also have its own gastronomy. Stadtwerke Metzingen is currently planning a total investment of around 68.8 million euros. Construction work on the year-round pool is set to begin in October next year. The opening of the pool is scheduled for the end of 2028. ■
