(eap) The Swiss ropeway and mechanical engineering company Bartholet, which also operates its own amusement park division through its subsidiary Swiss Rides, is currently working on three new projects in China. In the Shao Huashan National Forest Park in the central Chinese city of Xi’An, which covers around 6,300 hectares and is known for its deep gorges, clear waters, imposing cliffs, dense forests and Buddhist temples, Bartholet is expanding the existing ropeway capacity there with a 2,900 metre-long monocable ropeway with 8-passenger gondolas that will transport up to 1,500 people per hour.

Another project is being realised in Nanchang: The Meiling National Scenic Area is located in the middle section of the Xishan Mountains, around 15 kilometres from the city centre. With a large proportion of forest and a pleasant summer climate, this area is a popular recreational destination. The cable car project stretches over a total of 5.5 kilometres and comprises 112 colourful panoramic cabins designed by Studio F.A. Porsche. The installation, which will comprise two independently operable sections (the first of which will be 4.2 kilometres long), will also transport up to 1,500 people per hour in future.

In the Yixing Bamboo Sea Park in the southern mountains of Yixing in eastern China, Bartholet is finally replacing a fixed-grip 4-passenger gondola lift with a modern 8-passenger cableway. Following the modernisation, up to 1,200 passengers per hour will be transported along a horizontal track length of 1,282 metres (with a height difference of 395 metres). The three projects are intended to optimise the respective traffic situation in the local nature and landscape parks, and the cable cars themselves will also function as an attraction. ■
