Ceremonial Opening of Karl’s Weather World 2.0 in Elstal
(eap) With a big summer party, Karls Erlebnis-Dorf in Elstal (near Berlin) today celebrated the opening of the second section of the themed area “Karls Wetterwelt”, which opened in 2021 with its first attractions (see EAP 2/2021). Now this is adorned with three new large rides: the “Wäschespinne” (engl.: Rotary Dryer), a chain carousel from SBF Visa, a monorail roller coaster called “Poggys Wolkenexpress” (also from SBF Visa) and an XXL swing called “Wetter-Umschwung” (engl.: Weather Swing), which is the Wild Swing model from ART Engineering.
In addition, young guests can look forward to new, free offers. These include the 100-square-meter water play fountain with light and sound („PlayFountain“ from Ice-World GmbH), as well as a giant climbing volcano (“Snow-Mountain”) to climb up and then slide down. The new “Blitz & Donner” attraction is aimed specifically at wheelchair users. This is a swing that can be set in motion by the wheelchair user under the supervision of an attendant. The new experience restaurant “Zum krossen Wetterhahn” (engl. To the Crispy Weathercock) provides refreshments, and the area is rounded off by a shop called “Vorübergehend Freundlich” (engl.: Temporarily Friendly), where all sorts of things to do with the weather world can be purchased and taken home as souvenirs.
Karls operator Robert Dahl is absolutely thrilled with the new area: “I think Karls has outdone itself with the Wetterwelt 2.0. At no other location has our design team succeeded in interweaving free play ideas, gastronomy and attractions in such a beautiful way as can now be seen here in the Weather World. We’re very excited to see the reactions of guests young and old”. ■
